The magnet was an ode to who I am. As I reflected on what I wanted to represent myself as, I knew pretty quickly that I wanted to do something with photography. It's what I do and what I plan to do after graduating. I had a few other ideas but this one felt the most like me. As I began to develop my concept, I knew it would only make sense to have my whole magnet be an image rather than any type of illustration. I also wanted the photos to reflect me so I used a photo up in the mountains of Alta where I ski. Those mountains truly feel like home. I also wanted to highlight all of my cameras that I had so I went through and took a photo of all my cameras and lenses. It was definitely time consuming because I have so much equipment but I couldn't imagine any other way of showing what truly feels like me. It wouldn't be a complete magnet without all my little cameras.
This design wouldn't make sense if it was anything but photos. Photography is something that just comes naturally to me and I'm so grateful to have it. It feels so fulfilling to have something that I connect with and that I feel like I'm good at. I wanted to also be able to use this magnet to look back on my cute collection during this time of my life. I feel like I'm about to springboard into a fulfilling and exciting career and wanted to show that in this project. I wasn't initially a fan of this final project but I'm happy with what I ended up doing.
